Vulclast® is a bespoke, manufactured in-house, hot vulcanised 45° scarf-jointed O-ring that can be produced to virtually any diameter, using a wide selection of compounds, cross-sections, and hardnesses. Vulclast® rings are intended for static applications only.
Our process uses state-of-the-art equipment, allowing the production of dimensionally accurate, high-quality Vulclast® O-rings without the use of traditional adhesives, moulding, or manual dimensional measuring techniques.
Critical in-process checks include verification of bond integrity using a computer-controlled tensile tester. Accurate finishing of the bonded section, together with final dimensional inspection, plays a key role in delivering a consistently high-quality product to our customers.

Bespoke sizes without the need for tooling
Because Vulclast® rings are hot vulcanised and scarf-jointed from extruded cord, we can manufacture virtually any internal diameter, from small custom seals (minimum 180 mm ID) to very large sizes, without the need for expensive mould tooling or extended lead times.
Superior joint strength
In-house tensile testing shows that Vulclast® joints outperform traditional butt-bonded and cold-bonded methods. In most cases, joint strength is comparable to that of the parent cord material itself.
Elastomers for every application
Vulclast® rings are available in a wide range of compounds, including Nitrile (NBR), Neoprene (CR), HNBR, EPDM, and Silicone (VMQ), allowing selection of the correct elastomer for the intended service conditions.
Precision and quality
Every Vuclast® ring is finished to tight tolerances, visually and dimensionally inspected, and meets or exceeds ISO 3301-1 class E1 tolerances on the cross section, with inside diameters inspected to be within ISO-3601-1 non standard (custom) O-ring tolerances.

Tensile strength testing
Tensile testing measures the force required to cause failure and presents the results graphically, allowing direct comparison with the strength of the parent cord. This provides clear evidence of joint reliability for each Vulclast® ring produced.
Olypsys® measurement
High-accuracy optical measurement systems are used to verify Vulclast® O-ring dimensions, removing the need for traditional measuring tapes, which are often impractical for large diameters.
We currently measure internal diameters up to 1400 mm, an industry first in the UK using this technology. These reports are particularly important when tolerances are tight and dimensional conformity to drawings must be confirmed.
Certification
Documentation and test certificates are available individually or as a quality pack upon request to support quality and compliance needs.
3.1 certificate – We issue certification with full batch traceability and raw material test data, normally aligned with EN 10204. This provides objective evidence through actual measured results, including hardness, tensile strength, elongation, and specific gravity.
